ACHIM TRÖSTER
Achim Tröster is a German diplomat with a distinguished career spanning over three decades. Born and educated in Germany, he obtained his University Entrance Diploma in Dortmund in 1977, followed by training as an officer in the German Federal Army. He pursued academic studies in History and French Linguistics at the University of Bonn, where he also completed his first State Teacher Examination for Secondary Education.
In 1990, Tröster entered the German Diplomatic Service, embarking on a series of international and domestic postings. Early in his career, he served as Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Kinshasa (1993-1995) and held several roles in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His assignments include prominent diplomatic roles as Deputy Head of Mission in Sarajevo and Bucharest, as well as postings in Madrid and the Permanent German Mission to International Organizations in Geneva. Tröster later served as Chief of Protocol at the State Chancellery in Mainz and as Special Coordinator at the OCHA Donor Support Group in Berlin.
From 2017 to 2021, he served as the German Ambassador to Benin, before assuming his current role as Ambassador to Bangladesh at the German Embassy in Dhaka in July 2021.
